THE POWER OF BUILDING OUR SPIRITUAL ALTAR

Text: Genesis 12:7-8 «When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, ‘I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless. Then I will make my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers.'» (Genesis 17:1-2)

Reflection: In the journey of faith, building our spiritual altar is essential. Just as Abram did, we’re called to create sacred spaces in our lives where we encounter God. These altars aren’t physical structures but moments of devotion, prayer, and worship, where we commune with the Almighty.

Why Build Our Spiritual Altar?

1. Communion with God: Like Abram, we’re invited to draw near to God, to pitch our tents where His presence dwells. In the hustle of life, these altars become sanctuaries of peace and strength, where we find rest for our souls.

2. Sanctification: Our daily commitment to building our spiritual altar sets us apart for God’s purposes. As we consecrate ourselves before Him, He purifies our hearts and empowers us for holy living.

3. Divine Blessing: God promises to bless those who seek Him earnestly. At our spiritual altars, we receive His abundant grace, peace that surpasses understanding, and empowerment for victorious living.

4. Offering unto God: Our spiritual altars are places of sacrifice, where we present our lives as living offerings to God. In surrender, we find true worship, pleasing to the Lord.

Conclusion: In the busyness of life, let’s not neglect the sacred practice of building our spiritual altars. These moments of encounter with God transform us, shaping us into vessels of His glory. As we devote ourselves to this spiritual discipline, may the fire of our altars burn brightly, illuminating our path with His presence.

CHOOSING JOY: EMBRACING A POSITIVE ATTITUDE

Surely there are many things in our lives that we would like to change, and it’s hard for us to accept that many of those things are beyond our control.

We have to acknowledge that, for example, if we don’t like Mondays, we can’t change the fact that every Sunday is followed by a Monday…

Perhaps we dislike cloudy and rainy days, but we have to recognize that we don’t have the power or ability to control the weather.

Similarly, there are many circumstances in our lives that WE CANNOT CHANGE, but THERE IS SOMETHING THAT WE CAN CHANGE that truly DOES depend on us. What am I talking about? OUR ATTITUDE!!

The word of God says:

«Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls— Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.» Habakkuk 3:17-18

Despite everything we cannot change, we can change our attitude and rejoice in God, in His love, His power, and His faithfulness.
